It was a happy sight, just a few days ago
when I saw that both parents
were taking food to the nest.
I was amazed how quickly they came back
with their beaks filled with some
"tasty" critter.
HOWEVER,
when I looked out my front door
towards their nest one morning,
I could tell something was not right.
The door to their house was hanging down
and all we could find was the
empty nest on the ground
a few feet away.
I am so disappointed.
We need to find a better way to locate
our Bluebird box.
I had a really nice one a few years ago
put on top of a pole
and those "nest raiders"
took the whole birdhouse with them
when they left.
I must say, though, I feel very blessed
to have been able to watch the
Bluebirds for as long as I did.
They definitely "brightened" my days.

Oh no! It is disturbing to see these nests destroyed, but I guess that is the way of nature.
Oh how sad. I'm so sorry... We had something happen to our Bluebirds this year also... They were beginning to build their nest and lay their eggs... THEN--one day I didn't see either Mom or Dad BB.... More days passed and NO BB's.... We looked in the nest and there were 5 eggs... NO PARENTS... We waited awhile longer --but after about 2-3 weeks, we cleaned out the nest hoping that the BB's would return. But--so far--no sign of ANY BB's around here. This has never happened before. I have no idea what caused this...Very sad for me.
Hugs,
Betsy
I'm so sorry.
Re your comment about gardenias...I, too, remember dimestore corsages and how fragrant they were.
Have a nice day.

...oh no! It always breaks my heart when I see a nest in my yard has been raided. :-( (Your photos of the parents feeding the birds were wonderful. Maybe they will renest.)
