Eastern Phoebe

Finally, after many days of rain
the sun is shining
and the Spring Migration
of birds is starting.

I saw this bird flitting quickly
from trees to bushes, etc.

It took awhile until it sat still enough
for me to get some pictures.

It kind of reminded me of a Tufted Titmouse,
but it seemed too big and not quite the same.

After checking my Smithsonian Field Guild
and pictures on the Internet,
I believe it is an Eastern Phoebe,
which is definitely a new bird for me.

We have Red-Headed Woodies here (aren't they gorgeous?) --but I don't know about the Phoebes... I've heard of them --but not sure I've ever seen one either....

We usually see the Red-Breasted Grosbeaks when migrating season comes ---but only saw one this Spring... Of course, with all of the rains we have had, they may have kept on moving away from this area... ha

Hugs,
Betsy

Hi Janet! I love hearing a Phoebe's song -- Gotta love a bird that sings its own name! I was out yesterday and heard Eastern Pewees everywhere (I love their song too...another "say your own name" bird!). Enjoy spring migration!!
