Here it is, the first day of Spring,
and I have yet to post any of my Winter birds.
The Yellow-shafted Northern Flicker is a bird
I do not see very often. Usually it feeds on the ground,
but this winter it came to my feeders on my deck.
You can see the yellow under his tail.
The Flicker can really blend into the bark of a tree.
Another bird I hear but don't see up close very often
is the Pilated Woodpecker.
The Tufted Titmouse are regulars year around.
I love seeing them in the Winter all puffed up to keep warm.

The Downy and the Hairy Woodpeckers are regulars also.
Sometimes they wait patiently to take their turn at the suet.
The larger Hairy is waiting on the little Downy.
Well, maybe not too patiently...
Another bird we see only in the Winter
is the little Snowbird--the Dark-eyed Junco.
The Goldfinch add a flash of color no matter what the season.
anxiously getting some food
on a Blustery Day.
Baby, It's Cold Outside.
And what would Winter be
without our
Pesky Squirrels?

Hi Janice, Love your collection of birds.. I have almost all of the same ones here. I've only seen one Junco this winter --since it never did get very cold there. AND--I haven't seen a Hairy since last summer...
Great pictures. Thanks!
Hugs,
Betsy
Hi Janice, What a treat to see your lovely pictures. That first pic is my favorite and the "oops" photo is cute too!!!
Your woodpeckers are so pretty! I just love the whole woodpecker family. I never see the flickers here. I did when we first built our house, but they must have moved somewhere else. Love the titmouse and all the others, too. These are great photos and I hope the next ones we see don't have snow in them! Sure doesn't feel like spring yet, and down here in the south of the state it should already be spring-like. That squirrel shot is really cute :-) They are so clever.
These are beautiful-looking birds, Ms Janice! They must be rejoicing too to find out that spring has come! Take care!
