I had been waiting patiently for a
Ruby-Throated Hummingbird,
trying to catch that vibrant red on his neck
when I saw this streak of blue
out of the corner of my eye
--an Indigo Bunting.
I first saw him on one of the flower boxes on my deck,
but as soon as I shifted my camera towards him,
he flew out to this tree branch--quite a distance away.
Fortunately, he sat and posed for me.
Was this his happy face???
He was only there for a minute,
and then flew off into the deep woods.
But, he certainly made my day!

Hi Janice, What lovely pictures! Only once in my life have I seen this bird in person. Thank you so much for sharing this colorful bird. Makes me smile, too! Have a nice week.
Lovely pictures.
Thank you for your recent comment. You are very kind :D
The blue bird is lovely! I wish we had those too near our place but we live in an urban jungle. It must be very enjoyable to be amongst these creatures right at your very home and capturing them in photos!
Have a great week ahead! Take care :D
Their blue color is always so startling! Just an amazing little bird to have visit. I see them flying across the roads sometimes, but didn't see any at my house this spring. Lovely shots of it!
Oooohhhh! Lucky, lucky you! I love Indigo Buntings, and up against the deeply wooded background the blue really sings.
Great shots Janice, what a beautiful bird!
I hope your hummingbirds did end up showing up for you!
Lovely! I'm impressed with your photos as I have not yet been able to capture a good photo of one. Very nice!
